At ESP Utilities Group Limited (“ESP”) we are committed to safeguarding and preserving the confidentiality and privacy of visitors to ESP’s web-site and of its customers, suppliers, service providers and employees alike.

When you contact us using the phone number, email addresses or the enquiry form detailed on our web-site we will collect and process only the information you provide: such as your name, address, phone number, email address, and other information you provide.

  • To report a gas leak on one of our networks:
    • When reporting a gas leak you will be asked to confirm your name, the address at which you believe there may be a gas leak and a contact phone number.
  • To request a replacement gas meter or for a gas meter to be relocated:
    • When requesting the replacement of a gas meter you will be asked for your name, address and contact details, and will be required to enter into a contract for the performance of the relocation works:
    • When requesting the relocation of a gas mater you will be asked for your name, address and contact details, and will be required to enter into a contract for the performance of the relocation works.
  • To report a power failure on one of our electricity networks:
    • When reporting a power failure you will be asked to confirm your name, the address at which you believe there may be a power failure and a contact phone number.
  • To request entry onto ESP’s priority customer database:
    • People who are of pensionable age, chronically sick, disabled, have a long term medical condition, have hearing or visual impairments or other communication needs, or are otherwise in a vulnerable situation are entitled to be registered on ESP’s priority customer database, with a view to ensuring priority in the event of a power failure or gas leak.
  • To request a new connection of gas or electricity to your property:
    • When requesting a new connection for gas or electricity to your property you will be asked for your name, address and contact details, and will be required to enter into a contract for the performance of the connection works
    • To Find Out More on the Careers at ESP Utilities:
      • If you submit an enquiry or your curriculum vitae using the Careers@espug.com email address, you will be providing personal, and in some instances, sensitive personal data.

 

HOW DO WE PROCESS THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT?

When you contact us:

  • To report a gas leak on one of our networks:
    • The information you provide will be recorded by ESP and a record kept for a period of twelve (12) months, after which time the information will be deleted.
    • During that twelve (12) month period, the information will be stored in an electronic database.
    • The database is secured so that only those people within ESP who require access for the purpose of processing the data have access to that data.
    • The information you provide may be passed on to a third party contractor, for the purposes of checking and, where necessary, rectifying the reported gas leak.
  • To request a replacement meter or for a meter to be relocated:
    • The information you provide will form part of a contract.
    • The contract will be stored in an electronic database by ESP and a record kept for a period of 6 years from the date on which the works to replace or relocate the gas meter have been completed.
    • The database is secured so that only those people within ESP who require access for the purpose of processing the data have access to that data.
    • The information you provide may be passed on to a third party contractor, for the purposes of carrying out the replacement or relocation works.
  • To report a power failure on one of our electricity networks:
    • The information you provide will be recorded by ESP and a record kept for a period of twelve (12) months, after which time the information will be deleted.

    • The database is secured so that only those people within ESP who require access for the purpose of processing the data have access to that data.

    • The information contained on the priority customer database is sensitive personal data, which will be kept as long as your details remain on the priority customer database.
    • The database is secured so that only those people within ESP who require access for the purpose of processing the data have access to that data.
    • The information you provide may be passed on to a third party contractor, for the purposes of checking and, where necessary, rectifying a reported power failure or gas leak.
  • To request a new connection of gas or electricity supply to your property:
    • The information you provide will form part of a contract.
    • ESP shall keep a record for a period of 6 years from the date on which the works to install and connect the gas or electricity to your property have been completed.
    • The database is secured so that only those people within ESP who require access for the purpose of processing the data have access to that data.
    • The information you provide may be passed on to a third party contractor, for the purposes of carrying out the works necessary to connect your property to ESP’s electricity and / or gas network.
  • To Find Out More on the Careers at ESP Utilities:
    • The information you provide will form a prospective enquiry about careers or employment opportunities at ESP;
    • ESP’s Human Resources Manager shall review and respond to all enquiries;
    • ESP shall keep a record for a period of nine (9) months from the date of receipt or, in the event that you are invited for interview, a period not exceeding nine (9) months from the date ESP issues you the result of the interview.
    • The database is secured so that only those people within ESP who require access for the purpose of processing the data have access to that data.

 

WHAT ARE THE LEGAL GROUNDS FOR COLLECTING, PROCESSING AND MAINTAINING THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT?

  • If you contact us to report a gas leak on one of our networks:
    • Under the auspices of the gas transportation license issued to it by OFGEM, and the Safety Regulations issued pursuant to the Gas Act 1989, ESP is required to provide a safe and secure network, with a view to ensuring continuity of supply.
  • To report a power failure on one of our electricity networks:
    • Under the auspices of the electricity distribution license issued to it by OFGEM, ESP is required to provide a safe and secure network, with a view to ensuring continuity of supply.
  • If you have or a person acting on your behalf has requested entry onto ESP’s priority customer database:
    • ESP operates as an Independent Gas Transporter and Independent Distribution Network Operator by virtue of holding licenses issued by OFGEM.
    • Conditions within those licenses require ESP to provide services to groups of customers specifically which are to be given priority in the event of a failure of gas or electricity supply.
  • To request a new connection of gas or electricity supply to your property:
    • The installation of a new meter would require you and ESP entering into a contract.
  • To Find Out More on the Careers at ESP Utilities:
    • Information submitted to enquire about careers is collected, processed and maintained with a view to entering into a contract, and to confirm that you are eligible to work in the UK and are qualified and the best match for any vacancy we have from time to time.

 

WHAT ARE MY RIGHTS AND HOW CAN I EXERCISE THEM?

With effect from 25th May 2018, if ESP has collected and processed your personal data you have the right:

  • to request confirmation of and / or a copy of the personal data ESP holds about you. Unless requests are ;
  • to require ESP to correct any errors in any personal data ESP holds about you;
  • to limit the processing of any personal data ESP holds about you;
  • to object to the processing of personal data ESP holds about you;
  • to request deletion of personal data ESP holds about you;
