New ownership for ESP Utilities Group

A fund managed by 3i Group plc ("3i") has today taken ownership of ESP Utilities Group Limited.   3i is a leading international investment manager focused on mid-market private equity and infrastructure.  Its head office is based in London and its core investment markets are northern Europe and North America.

The acquisition was first announced in December 2016 as part of a wider transaction for the fund to acquire a portfolio of assets, including ESP Utilities Group, owned by the EISER Global Infrastructure Fund.  That transaction was subject to a number of conditions including approval from the European Commission under the EU Merger Regulation, which have now been achieved.   The EISER Global Infrastructure Fund has owned the Utilities company since 2006.

Project Nexus: New UK Link System


1st June 2017

As most industry participants will be aware, 1st June 2017 represents an important milestone for the gas industry. This date marks the implementation of the new UK Link system - one of the most significant changes in the history of the gas industry in Great Britain.

The UK Link system facilitates key processes for the competitive gas market in Great Britain, including customer switching and energy settlement. The original system was implemented in 1996 and has been adapted over the years to support changes to industry and business processes. The need to replace key elements of the current UK Link systems was identified some years ago, and the requirements for the new system have been identified through consultation, Network Code modification processes and extensive industry discussion.

Bringing gas supplies to homes across Stirling


20th February 2017

ES Pipelines is connecting 50 more homes across Stirling to the national natural gas network.

The company has been commissioned by Rural Stirling Housing Association to provide gas supplies to 50 of its properties in Callander, Balfron and Drymen. Up to now, these homes have had to rely on electricity for heating.

Work onsite is starting in February with the last home due to be connected by the end of May. ES Pipelines is working with Gas and Utility Technology Ltd as its construction partner.

The properties are:

Buchanan Street, Balfron - 8 homes

Campbell Court, Callendar - 6 homes

Ritchie Place, Callendar - 20 homes

Stuart Drive, Drymen - 16 homes
